Nepali Bhoj Fundraiser

Join us to raise much needed funds for Sherpa staff who are now without work and income due to the continuing covid pandemic in Nepal.

Basanta Treks and Expeditions (BATE) employs 16 guides, who between them support families of 69 people. Without employment these families face suffering poverty, homelessness and lack of nourishment. Since the beginning of the pandemic Basanta has raised funds and used up his personal savings to help these families through these difficult months. However, with almost total travel bans to Nepal, the next six months looks very bleak – with no sign of tourists being able to return to Nepal. There is no official furlough scheme in Nepal.

We need to keep these staff on some salary, however small, so they can at least support their families until tourists return. Your donations will help put food on their tables, and keep the roofs over their heads, while they persevere through these extremely difficult times. A small amount of generosity will go a long way for these hard-working people.

A £30 ticket will furlough one person for a week. The Bhoj will include a traditional Nepali Dahl Baht and a fundraising Auction. There will be a paying bar.
